Saving the Environment??? Perhaps....

Sometimes I have the best intentions of “saving the environment” but I never really know where to begin. I’ve tried turning off my lights when I leave a room. I’ve tried raking my leaves instead of using my leaf blower, but my back always gets sore. I’ve tried not running my air conditioner, not driving my car, not using poison to kill my kitchen mice, not leaving my oven door open too long. I’ve even tried using a carpool, but my neighbors get annoyed with my constant singing.

I’ve tried everything. The only thing I’ve been successful at has been my constant obsession with email. My argument is always that I’m trying to save the environment, get off my back!

Then I came upon these products. L’uvalla Skincare. Products that were far from anything I thought I’d ever be interested in. After all, I’m basically a failure at most attempts to save the environment or really lead a healthy lifestyle altogether. Aside from a few weekly carrots, my diet needs work and I have absolutely no care about my skin, having been burned many times in my early teens from tanning before the prom. So my regime in the shower, not that anyone would be interested, didn’t consist of washing my face with anything other than my trusty bar of Dove. Then this product fell into my lap, literally, someone actually dropped it into my lap when I was on the couch one day, emailing. Try this, my friend snarls at me, your skin looks like crap.

So, because I am a good friend, I hoisted myself up and slumped to the bathroom where I turned on the water and looked at my partially dry face in the mirror. There’s nothing wrong with my skin, I thought; she’s so full of it. But she was hovering over my shoulder, eager for me to wash my face. So I did. And from that point on, my life changed. Boom. Done. Just like that.

When I put this product on my skin, not only did it feel like silk when I was done, and I know that’s cliché but it actually felt like silk or some really, really expensive fabric, but the smell was so invigorating that it instantly woke me up from my laziness. I didn’t lead on that I fell instantly in love, but when one falls in love, c’mon, it’s very hard to hide. The next day I wanted more. I soon found myself waking and washing, retiring and washing and before I knew it, I was telling everyone about my new discovery.

And, to make it all even that much better, the products are completely sustainable, made with 100% natural, organic ingredients, and has some fancy shmancy Euro COSMEBIO organic certification. So, in essence, by using these products, I’m helping to save the environment. So no more feeling sorry for myself because I feel like I’m not doing anything because I am, and it’s benefiting me, so my selfish little self actually reaps some benefits. How thoughtful of them.

And one more thing that I often brag about, is that a percentage of their proceeds go to various organizations, which basically means I’m donating to charities every time I buy their stuff. So basically, that just translates to me being this super ideal environmentally aware, save-the-earth kind of person. Right? Or maybe this is my first step. But what a step! I mean I come out smelling like a rose, or maybe not a rose, but I definitely come out smelling like Eucalyptus, which in my opinion, is much better than a rose. A rose reminds me of my grandmother’s perfume.

I love your post. By the way, I have been using L'uvalla for two months now. I use the Age-defying set and the eye/lip cream. I LOVE MY L'UVALLA PRODUCTS... my skin feels so good and the smell is fantastic. My husband loves when I put the products on and go to bed at night, he just loves the smell too :)

I got the products on the website www.luvalla.com, but I heard a rumor that they will be in Whole Foods.

Thanks again for the blog Skinfanatic... it made me smile

Oh dear, seems like you've attracted some 'bad press', Skin! But it seems that various points in your article, like your car pool use, e-mail rather than paper, not poisoning mice, closing your back door to save energy, etc., may have been missed? And that not even taking into account the benefits of using products that give something back and don't take too much out.

We all have to wash, after all! Even though the body is just a material form of the formless, awareness will suggest maintaining it as well as possible without compromising, jeopardising or harming anything else where possible. If you come across anything else with the same mindfulness involved, please let us know!

We could use capitalism to finace a better world. We could respect other humans and try to understand them. The community that is growing here should be about positive soluitons and leave the attack dog stuff to other sites...
