Volunteer journalists in India bring awareness to their communities

Video Volunteers is a non-profit organization working in the villages and slums of India to create content relevant to issues in the area for the people living there. Many in the villages being covered cannot read or write.

The goal of Video Volunteers is to reach as many people as possible with news and events and call them to action. It is available online at Channel 19.

One of the biggest issues covered now is the strike in Dharavi, the world’s largest slum in Mumbai. Many of Channel 19’s videos aim to be positive and inspiring.
