The Readers Blog is a group blog, a collection of provocative, passionate people who represent a broad geographical, professional, personal and vocational range. New bloggers from other places and other points of view will join the conversation from time to time. Here, we invite them all to share their perspectives and opinions on the issues that matter to them most. And we invite you to respond. Let the dialogue begin!

Bark for peace

BarkForPeace.com is about people and their pets. It’s a sweet, whimsical website that serves as a tasty reminder of the absolute fact that there is no such thing as a small act of peace. Here’s some of their copy.

We make the very best organic, allergen-free, 100% human-grade treats you can EAT WITH your dog on the planet, period!

My dogs have been my greatest teachers, that's why Bark for Peace! treats are crafted from scratch with lots of pure organic love in Austin, Texas, USA, Planet Earth! Our expert taste testers say our treats are the best on the planet - we bet your dog will too! Let’s make the world a better place one tasty treat at a time!

Bark for Peace! woof!woof!™
lisa, FORD, & Clementine too!

Now I’m going to add the logos of all the organizations this small entrepreneurial company partners with on their website.

The following are just some of the organizations and events we’ve proudly sponsored:
Austin Humane Society

Texas Hearing and Service Dogs

Hand
Darkness to Light
Barkitecture

Eremos

Pets America

Wheatsville Co-Op

Green Corn Project

Pump Art Project

Church World Service

Cherrywood Art Fair

Allegedly, none of them, or few, have anything to do with peace per se. On the other hand—the four favorite words of a Libra—they all exist on the planet and that’s enough reason right there for them to care about peace.

I think we make a terrible mistake when we think that if we’re not Mother Teresa we can’t make a difference to peace. She made quite a difference, it’s true, but it was her difference, not mine. My difference is mine; yours is yours. I’m with Lisa and Clementine, love like your dog! Bark for peace. Woof.

Thanks so much for the shout-out! At B4P! we do understand peace-making in broad, life-living, life-learning terms!

This is what I call our "Peace Paragraph": At Bark for Peace! we believe that peace is more than the absence of war, rather we work and hope toward the absence of suffering and the flourishing of all! Our dogs show us- peace is: rambunctious joy, relentless love, abundant sharing, creative compassion, companioning solidarity and ever-extended forgiveness! That’s why we say: “Love like your dog!”™

I heard someone say at a conference recently that the owner/founder of Celestial Seasonings Tea had sold the company and told Mother Teresa that he was going to do charity work and she sharply said "NO! You can do more good where you are!"

My favorite Mother Teresa quote is "We can do no great things- only small things with great love."

Keep barkin' for peace! woof!woof! lisa, Clementine, Bounce, Banjo & the Forever FORD
